Versiris Energy (previously operating as New Energy Equity) installed this 1031.6 kW solar array in Minneapolis, Minnesota to offset the electricity load of Schafer Richardson’s facility. The panels will produce roughly 1,217,288 kWh per year, enough to power 104 average Minnesota homes. Over the next 30 years, the solar panel system will offset nearly 28,530 tons of carbon dioxide, the equivalent of adding over 31,710 acres of trees to our forests.
Challenge
This project was the largest behind-the-meter system that the utility would allow, and since there was a railroad track along the building, our team had to navigate tight equipment clearances to access the site.
Solution
We replaced some existing equipment and designed custom switchgear that met utility requirements while maintaining train car safety clearances.
