Coloplast
About
Versiris Energy (previously operating as New Energy Equity) installed this 221 kWdc solar array in Minneapolis, MN to offset the electricity load of Coloplast's facility. The panels will produce roughly 263,000 kWh per year, offsetting 114 metric tons of carbon dioxide. This is equivalent to adding 136 acres of new forest.
For over 60 years, Coloplast has been improving the lives of people with intimate healthcare needs. They are renowned for their ability to listen to users’ needs – and respond with solutions that make their lives easier. The company has made sustainability an integral part of their 2025 corporate strategy, Strive25, and have set an ambition to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement’s goal to limit global temperature rise. This rooftop solar array will help them achieve those goals.
As a part of our partnership with American Forests, Versiris Energy will assist in the planting of 221 trees, one for each kW of solar included in this project.
Challenge
Maximizing solar potential on a complicated building with large structural keep-out areas and multiple roof elevations/types.
Solution
Utilizing a fully ballasted racking system, we successfully installed solar arrays on four different roof elevations with three different types of roof membrane (rock, gravel, and TPO) while maintaining an aesthetic look that didn't take away from the building's architectural charm.
